Job Description
Main duties and responsibilities

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the Campus Services team, working on our city campus to help fulfil our commitment to providing a quality porterage service to support university business.

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Porter to join our team. As part of Estates and Facilities, you will help create a positive environment that supports the learning, teaching, and research activities of the University.
This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, pride in your work, and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential. You will work as part of a supportive team to provide porterage support the University's buildings, ensuring all spaces are prepared for external events, teaching and exams to name a few, so they remain welcoming for our diverse community and focuses on the student experience.
As a Porter, this busy and varied role incorporates all duties related to movement of furniture, equipment and materials to support the university business needs. Assistance with ceremonies and corporate events and ensuring all buildings are prepared to the highest standard to enhance our facilities for all students, staff and visitors.
Ideal Candidate
We Are Looking For An Individual Who:
- Will ideally have previous similar experience.
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
- Will have experience of manual handling operations and use of associated equipment. You will be provided with training when you join the team.
- Takes pride in delivering high standards of workmanship.
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Can work independently and as part of a team.
- Are reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Can follow safe working procedures, instructions, and health and safety requirements.
- Has good communication skills.
- Are willing to undertake training and development as required.
- Are able to work unsocial hours, including weekends as required.

The position is part of a small team on campus, working within allocated university buildings. You will be required to work 20 hours per week, Monday to Sunday between 6:00am-8:00pm, to suit the needs of university business.
The salary shown will be pro-rated down to reflect the part time hours however you will also receive an unsociable hours payment, per hour on top of your normal hourly rate for all hours worked before 8:00am, after 8:00pm and at weekends.
