About the Role
As a Porter & Mailroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of Headquarters by providing a prompt, effective, and customer-focused support service. Working as part of a busy team, you will be responsible for handling mail, deliveries, equipment movement, and a variety of portering duties while maintaining high standards of service and security.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on role, enjoys working collaboratively, and takes pride in providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide an efficient portering and mailroom service across Headquarters.
- Receive, sort, distribute, and collect mail and deliveries in a timely manner.
- Assist with the movement and transportation of equipment, furniture, and other items as required.
- Maintain compliance with Force policies, procedures, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Operate screening equipment and follow security procedures for identifying and dealing with suspicious packages.
- Deliver a professional and customer-focused service to colleagues, officers, staff, and visitors.
- Support a range of departmental requirements across the Force as needed.

About You
We are looking for someone who can bring:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Confidence in dealing with a wide range of people and providing excellent customer service.
- Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety practices and a commitment to safe working methods.
- The physical capability to undertake manual handling duties and training associated with the role.
- Awareness of security procedures, including identifying suspicious packages and operating screening equipment.
- Competent IT skills and the ability to use Force systems as required.
- The ability to work effectively within a large team and manage a varied workload.
- A flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- The resilience to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of accuracy and service delivery.
