Portfolio Analyst
Location: London
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Working arrangement: Hybrid
Overview
Our client is looking for a Pricing or Portfolio Analyst to join a Delegated Authority underwriting team, with a particular focus on supporting profitable growth across an international property insurance portfolio.
You will analyse portfolio and product performance, develop reporting tools and dashboards, identify opportunities and risks, and turn complex data into clear recommendations for underwriting stakeholders.
This is a highly analytical role with direct exposure to frontline underwriting decisions and would suit someone with strong data analysis skills and, ideally, experience within insurance, pricing or property-related analytics.
Responsibilities
- Analyse portfolio and individual product performance against business objectives and strategic plans.
- Conduct detailed segmental analysis to identify performance drivers, growth opportunities and potential risks.
- Work with colleagues across the business to gather data and agree appropriate analytical approaches.
- Communicate findings and provide practical, data-led recommendations.
- Take ownership of the maintenance and development of reporting tools.
- Use advanced data manipulation techniques to generate new insights.
- Produce dashboards and ad-hoc reports to support business and underwriting decisions.
- Ensure work complies with relevant internal standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.

Requirements
- Experience analysing and interpreting large, complex datasets to support business decisions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python and Alteryx.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present analytical findings clearly.
- Ability to influence and work effectively with stakeholders across different business areas.
- Collaborative approach and ability to work across multiple functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable
- Experience within the insurance sector.
- Experience in pricing or portfolio analytics.
- Exposure to property insurance or related analytical work.
