The Portfolio Analytics team is responsible for providing clear, accurate and detailed reporting on our energy portfolio, including energy usage, revenues and costs. We seek to harness this data to identify opportunities to optimise costs or reduce leakages throughout the business.

By ensuring OVO can efficiently deliver value to its customers, the work the team does ensures OVO is able to invest in Plan Zero technologies. We perform analysis on energy usage trends to support the development of innovative tariffs and products.

This role in a nutshell:

Working within the Portfolio Analytics team in Finance, you will work on diverse and high value projects impacting many areas of the business.

In Portfolio Analytics you will use modern analytic and data engineering tools, combined with a deep understanding of the industry, to solve critical problems throughout the business. We use a wide range of tools including SQL (Bigquery), Python, Git and Tableau. Technical development is a key focus within the team and we are always seeking to learn and implement the latest tools and best practices, as well as upskilling team members.

Working with senior stakeholders to understand, summarise and visualise complex problems, and using data to inform and influence business decisions, you can be guaranteed to have an impact in this role.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • You will work in a team of ~10 analysts with a wide range of skills and knowledge and will have the opportunity to work collaboratively on large projects as well as having ownership of processes and delivering analysis independently.
  • By manipulating large datasets of customer usage and financial data, you will provide detailed reporting and assurance on our revenue and costs, and identify leakages.

Within your first 6 months you’ll:

  • Have produced detailed analysis on high value business topics such as Revenue Leakage and Energy Gross Margin.
  • Collaborated with other team members to develop expertise and deliver value in a wider range of areas.
  • Raised your profile among key stakeholders.
  • Gained insightful knowledge of the energy retail industry.

You’ll be a successful Portfolio Analyst here at OVO if you…

  • Have a strong mathematical or analytical background.
  • Confident managing and manipulating large amounts of data.
  • Experience in core analysis technologies, ideally excellent SQL skills and programming with Python or similar.
  • Drive to learn and develop new skills to suit the work.
  • Demonstrable high attention to detail.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects to build complex new models.
  • Transparent work that makes things simple for the wider team.
  • A creative thinker who thrives off direct responsibility and delivering value.

We’ll pay you between £35000 and £50000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
