We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon-footprint.

We have a great opportunity for a Portfolio Analyst to play a key role in the Read Journey and Settlement Management Team, providing cross-functional support and expertise to help deliver our obligations under the Balancing and Settlement Code.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Ensuring energy costs across our Business portfolio are accurate and reflect customers’ actual consumption.
  • Building, maintaining and managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and resolving electricity industry data exceptions across multiple internal and external processes to allow correct Settlement of consumption from MPAN to MPID level and everything inbetween.
  • Aligning data across internal systems, industry systems and third parties.
  • Correcting issues with third-party agent appointments and responding to their enquiries relating to industry data and data quality issues.
  • Analysing data sets to identify root causes, driving process improvements and implementing appropriate resolutions.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and programme developers to deliver a successful migration into Marketwide Half Hourly Settlement.
  • Supporting delivery of Industry Change Management.
  • Working with MOPs and DCs to facilitate Engineer or Data Retriever site visits.
  • Reviewing industry and internal read rejections to identify causation whilst fixing and releasing to DCs.
  • Validating instances of suspect settlement consumption values and resolving any inaccuracies.
  • Supporting offshore teams to maximise performance by implementing appropriate controls, governance and quality frameworks.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
