Credit Risk Analyst

The role will be to support the Global Credit team encompassing Global Investment Grade and Global High Yield teams with on desk risk and performance monitoring, report generation, client engagement, and business development requirements. The role will also include ongoing projects for the Portfolio managers including preparation of outlooks, written commentaries, and “white papers” to explain the outlook for the respective asset classes.

The successful applicant will be expected to fully understand Global Credit investment strategy and be able to communicate this in both a written and data-driven format, ensuring consistency. The applicant will be required to work closely with portfolio managers and various distribution partners, as it relates to existing clients and opportunities to grow the client base. A successful candidate could grow the role into more areas of original thought, undertaking analysis into credit drivers and thematics, developing/expanding outlooks, and producing original thought pieces.

The role is based in our London office.

What You Do

  • Work at AllianzGI London office, as a fully integrated member of the Global Credit team
  • Monitor portfolio positions versus benchmarks and targets
  • Work with IT/Risk/Performance Analytics teams to assist in the maintenance and development of tools to automate/make these processes more efficient (Cedar, Barra, Thinkfolio, Databricks), including making use of AI
  • Apply data analysis to improve internal and external risk/performance/positioning/etc. reports
  • Prepare Outlook books and provide written market reviews
  • Work on detailed projects on behalf of Portfolio Managers as required
  • Represent the PM team. This includes written commentaries reflecting changes in and evolution of portfolio structure and performance explanation of institutional client-specific strategies as well as the resolution of client queries and any related business complexity issues
  • Support the team by engaging cross-functional colleagues as needed (investment teams, business management, operations, compliance, legal etc.)
  • Deliver quantitative and qualitative input and updates to the team for their meeting materials (investment reviews/strategy discussions) ensuring high levels of accuracy
  • Assist portfolio managers with opportunities when required including data crunching, qualitative comments, portfolio analytics
  • Demonstrate good understanding of the operational activities and strong interaction with the operational teams to solve escalated operational risk issues.

What You Bring

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or similarly numerate degree preferred. Other degrees considered if quantitative skills can be demonstrated
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, MSCI, Thinkfolio, Databricks, AI tools would be preferable
  • Excellent analytical and verbal communication skills
  • Thoroughness, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Hard-working, possessing a high degree of integrity and personal responsibility
  • Intellectual and cultural curiosity – strong desire to progress
  • Capacity of being a team player and to effectively interact with other AllianzGI teams
  • A curious individual, able to contextualise problems and create solutions
  • An interest in the linkages between global macro trends, geopolitics, and corporate credit
  • Ability to seize the initiative and to logically solve tasks and problems
  • Proficient user of the standard Microsoft office tools. Coding skills in Python would be seen as a plus
  • AI Skills: AI/Data Strategy, Data Management, Data Visualisation, AI and Machine Learning, Python.
