Can you lead complex change while keeping people, investment and organisational outcomes firmly in view? We're looking for experienced Portfolio Delivery Managers to provide strategic delivery leadership across our directorates.
About The Role
You'll work in partnership with Directorate leaders to understand emerging demand, shape potential initiatives and oversee the successful mobilisation, delivery and embedding of approved change.
You'll also lead a multidisciplinary team of Project Delivery Managers, Business Analysts and Business Change Partners, ensuring the right capability is deployed at the right time. Alongside portfolio oversight, you'll retain the ability to personally lead selected initiatives where required.
What will you be doing?
As Portfolio Delivery Manager, you will:
- Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary delivery team.
- Act as a senior delivery partner to Directors, Sponsors and Business Owners.
- Work with directorate leaders to identify, explore and shape emerging change.
- Maintain oversight of delivery performance, investment, resources, dependencies, risks, readiness, outcomes and benefits.
- Mobilise approved initiatives and ensure appropriate sponsorship, ownership, resources and delivery capability are in place.
- Provide oversight and constructive challenge across projects, intervening where additional leadership or escalation is required.
- Maintain oversight of financial performance and resource/capacity requirements across your directorate portfolio.
- Bring together Project Delivery, Business Analysis and Business Change capability throughout the change lifecycle.

What will help you succeed?
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- A recognised delivery management qualification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP or equivalent, or comparable professional competence gained through substantial leadership experience.
- The ability to lead and develop different professional disciplines as one effective delivery team.
- Strong commercial judgement and an understanding of investment, financial performance and organisational capacity.
- Confidence operating with senior leaders, providing constructive challenge and driving accountability where necessary.
- An ability to see interdependencies across projects, directorates and functions and address barriers that extend beyond an individual initiative.
- A strong focus on ensuring change delivers the intended outcomes and benefits.
Our ideal candidate?
Your CV should clearly demonstrate:
- Significant experience leading complex projects and organisational change across varying levels of complexity and risk.
- A track record of line managing, coaching and developing multidisciplinary teams.
- Evidence of operating as a senior delivery partner to Directors, Sponsors or other senior organisational leaders.
- A strong focus on outcomes and benefits rather than simply completing project outputs.
- Experience of overseeing performance across a portfolio or multiple initiatives, including financial performance, resources, dependencies and delivery risk.

This role is based at our Bath Row office in Central Birmingham, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option to work the remaining days from home.
