About our client
We are working with an established and entrepreneurial investment firm focused on backing high-growth UK businesses. The firm invests in ambitious, revenue-generating companies with significant potential for further growth and supports management teams actively throughout the investment lifecycle.
The team takes a hands-on approach to its portfolio, combining investment expertise with strategic and commercial support to help businesses scale, strengthen performance and ultimately deliver attractive outcomes for shareholders.
As the portfolio continues to mature, the firm is creating a senior position focused specifically on taking ownership of existing investments and driving them towards the right strategic outcome.
What the job involves
- Taking ownership of a portfolio of investments and developing a clear strategy and plan for each business
- Working closely with founders, management teams and boards to drive value creation and improve business performance
- Assessing the appropriate long-term strategy for each investment, including further growth, acquisitions, refinancing or realisation
- Developing and maintaining clear exit strategies, including potential acquirers, valuation considerations, timing and the milestones required to maximise shareholder value
- Identifying and actively pursuing realisation opportunities, including trade sales, secondary transactions, refinancing and other liquidity events
- Appointing and managing corporate finance and other external advisers through transaction processes
- Identifying underperformance early and working with management teams to address commercial, financial, operational or leadership challenges
- Supporting more complex portfolio situations, including restructurings, follow-on funding decisions and management change where required
- Providing clear and commercially focused reporting to the Investment Committee and underlying investors
- Feeding lessons from the existing portfolio back into the wider investment team and future investment decisions

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
