Digital Portfolio Director - Defence
Up to £128,000 Base + 30% Bonus + £5,860 Car Allowance
Hybrid | Security Cleared Environment | UK
We're supporting a major Defence and Government services organisation as they build out a new Digital Portfolio leadership capability.
This is not a Programme Director, Delivery Director or PMO leadership role. Instead, think of it as a Business Unit CIO or Strategic Technology Partner.
You'll own the digital investment portfolio for a major Defence business unit, acting as the key advisor on technology strategy, demand management, investment prioritisation and value realisation.
You'll be responsible for ensuring the right initiatives are funded, prioritised and sequenced, whilst working alongside senior Defence stakeholders and digital delivery teams to maximise operational and business outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Owning and shaping a complex digital transformation portfolio.
- Prioritising competing investment demands and balancing capacity, risk and value.
- Partnering with senior Defence and operational leaders.
- Challenging assumptions and influencing investment decisions.
- Leading portfolio governance, benefits realisation and strategic roadmap development.
- Managing complex stakeholder environments, suppliers and delivery partners.
- Ensuring digital investment delivers measurable business and operational value.

What We're Looking For
- Experience shaping and governing portfolios rather than simply delivering projects.
- Strong executive stakeholder management capability.
- Commercial judgement and outcome-focused decision making.
- Ability to challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
- Experience balancing competing priorities in complex environments.
- Previous Defence, Government or secure-environment experience.
- Current or previously held SC/DV clearance highly desirable.
