Role Description
BW ESS is seeking a Portfolio FP&A Manager to support its growing UK operating BESS portfolio. The role will focus on financial modelling, non-statutory reporting, valuation and treasury analysis, working closely with Asset Management to monitor performance and support value creation across the portfolio. The role reports to the Director of FP&A and Treasury.
Core Responsibilities
Reporting & analysis
- Own recurring non-statutory reporting for UK operating assets
- Prepare monthly and quarterly packs for management, board, shareholder and lender requirements
- Produce variance analysis versus budget, forecast and investment case
- Develop and maintain portfolio KPIs, dashboards and reporting tools
- Translate high-volume, often unstructured operational and market data into clean, decision-ready outputs
Forecasting & analytics
- Own and maintain financial models of operational assets, improving robustness, consistency and automation over time
- Update financial models for actuals, revised forecasts and operational assumptions
- Model and monitor debt covenant compliance, headroom and forward projections at asset and SPV level
- Support periodic asset valuation and impairment test analysis of the UK portfolio
- Support annual budgets and periodic reforecasts by coordinating model inputs and mechanics
- Work closely with the Asset Management team to monitor operational and financial performance
- Identify trends, risks and opportunities across the portfolio that support value creation
- Coordinate operational, financial and commercial data from multiple stakeholders
- Support asset-level cashflow forecasting and liquidity analysis

Treasury & capital support
- Support distribution planning and modelling, working with the Director of FP&A and Treasury on portfolio-level treasury strategy and execution
- Assist in liaison with banks and investors on reporting, covenant and information requests
- Track debt service metrics, reserve accounts and distributions at asset level
- Weekly, monthly, quarterly cash snapshots
Transactions support
- Ad-hoc support financial due diligence for new M&A opportunities and disposals as required
Data & process management
- Improve consistency and scalability of reporting and modelling processes
- Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, timely and internally consistent
- Apply scripting or AI-enabled tools to improve reporting efficiency and analytical depth
- Work effectively in a fast-changing environment with evolving data structures and priorities
Required Skills & Experience
- Finance qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
- 3+ years' relevant experience with budgeting, forecasting, valuation, impairment or covenant analysis, and management/performance reporting including lender and shareholder reporting
- Comfortable working with operational and financial datasets from multiple systems
- Strong Excel and presentation skills, with an eye for clear, concise data presentation
- Organised, detail-oriented and process-driven, able to manage multiple models and recurring deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Able to communicate complex financial and operational information to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a simple and concise manner
- Experience in one or more of: project finance, battery storage, infrastructure, energy, renewables

Nice to Have
- Practical experience with at least one programming/scripting language for analysis or automation, such as Python, VBA, or with AI-enabled analysis tools
- Experience with SQL, data platforms, APIs or other structured datasets
- Familiarity with BI / dashboard tools, such as Power BI, Tableau or Looker
- Exposure to M&A due diligence or transaction support
- Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve reporting speed, accuracy or analytical depth
