Portfolio Manager

An exciting opportunity for a Portfolio Manager to join an established and innovative manufacturing business based in Hull.

The Role

The Portfolio Manager will take ownership of the technical design information that defines the company’s standard product portfolio.
The Portfolio Manager will ensure that plans, specifications, drawing modules, templates, product options, and supporting data remain accurate and up to date. The Portfolio Manager will act as the gatekeeper for product information, working closely with New Product Development, Design, Technical, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Sales.
The role will involve maintaining existing product information, developing new design configurations, and creating a structured Revit library. The Portfolio Manager will initially manage 1 Manufacturing Engineer, with the potential for the team to grow.
This role would suit an experienced Designer, Design Engineer, CAD Technician, or Product Development professional looking to progress into a management position.

Responsibilities of the Portfolio Manager

  • Take ownership of the technical information supporting the company’s product range
  • Keep drawings, specifications, templates, and product records accurate and up to date
  • Build and maintain a well-organised library of Revit families and reusable design components
  • Translate new product ideas into clear design layouts and technical information
  • Coordinate updates to existing products following changes to materials, components, or specifications
  • Review proposed products and materials to confirm they meet technical, commercial, compliance, and manufacturing requirements
  • Work alongside the New Product Development team to support Bills of Materials and product launches
  • Assist with the development and refinement of prototypes before they move into production
  • Ensure designs are practical, clearly documented, and suitable for efficient manufacture
  • Act as the main point of control for product design information across the business
  • Collaborate with Design, Technical, Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales, and external suppliers
  • Support the delivery of customer-specific designs for larger commercial projects
  • Improve the systems and processes used to manage design information and product changes
  • Lead and support a Manufacturing Engineer, with the potential to grow the team
  • Ensure all design documentation meets relevant technical and regulatory standards

Requirements of the Portfolio Manager

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 year’s experience in design, product development, or a similar technical role
  • Experience using 3D CAD software
  • Revit experience, ideally including the creation of Revit families
  • A good understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Experience within modular manufacturing, furniture, kitchen design, housebuilding, construction products, interiors, or another design-led manufacturing environment (desired)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Technical awareness and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • A motivated, organised, and proactive approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to work effectively with multiple departments

  • Monday to Thursday, 7:30 am – 5:45 pm
