Portfolio Manager | Prestigious Specialty Insurance
Leeds | Hybrid
Up to £75,000 + 25% bonus
I’m working with a leading global specialty insurer that is continuing to invest in its UK Portfolio Management capability and is looking to appoint a Portfolio Manager into a newly developed and highly visible function.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong actuarial/pricing background who wants to move beyond traditional pricing and have a genuine influence on underwriting strategy, portfolio performance and decision-making.
The role will take a lead across pricing model calibration and segmentation analysis, working closely with senior stakeholders including the UK CUO, underwriting product heads and actuarial teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

I’m particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have strong technical actuarial skills, experience developing and calibrating pricing models and a good understanding of specialty insurance.
You’ll need to be comfortable working with large and complex datasets, but just as importantly, be able to turn analysis into clear commercial recommendations and confidently engage with senior stakeholders.
A really interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys the intersection of pricing, analytics and underwriting strategy and wants to have a broader impact on how a portfolio is managed.
