Job Description

As a highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented Portfolio Manager, you will have experience working with Portfolio Directors, client leadership teams and project teams to deliver high quality Portfolio and Portfolio Management Office services for global/national/regional portfolios.

You drive the implementation of integrated governance, controls and reporting frameworks that enable efficient, effective and consistent delivery of portfolios, programmes and projects and success against annual portfolio objectives. You play a key role in establishing and maintaining portfolio governance, performance management and assurance processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, robust financial oversight and high-quality management information. Acting as a central point of coordination between project delivery teams, client stakeholders and the wider business, you provide visibility, challenge and insight to support informed decision-making and successful portfolio outcomes.

Through the application of standardised Portfolio and Portfolio Management Office methodologies, controls and best practices, you materially contribute to driving consistency, compliance and continuous improvement across commissions, directly contributing to the successful delivery of portfolio objectives, a strategically aligned, competitive portfolio, and the realisation of client benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Governance, Assurance & Controls: Work effectively with internal and client stakeholders as required to support the direction and sustained strategic performance and business value across the portfolio. Be an active contributor to high-performing teams, embedding, governing and assuring portfolio management frameworks and control processes. Support adherence to governance, contractual deliverables, and risk-management requirements. Maintain RAID logs, registers, trackers, and reporting mechanisms to a high-quality standard.
  • Portfolio Delivery: Lead the successful execution of small to medium scale transformation/real estate portfolio management offices, and own execution of functions/elements of large-scale portfolio management offices, ensuring measurable benefits.
  • Reporting & Data Management: Support on the implementation of effective reporting cycles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and data integrity. Analyse portfolio data and prepare insights, summaries, and dashboards (e.g., Power BI/Excel).
  • Continuous Improvement and Learning: Improve portfolio, programme and project efficiencies by supporting continuous improvement initiatives that transform portfolio performance. Support and manage portfolio management and control frameworks to ensure rigor, compliance, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Governance Support: Establish and support positive relationships with senior leaders, clients and key stakeholders, contributing to our reputation as a collaborative & trusted delivery partner. Support robust processes for engaging and managing portfolio stakeholders. Carry out governance duties, including preparing meeting materials, action tracking, and communications. Good communications skills, including professional presentations and status reports for leadership and governance forums.
  • Financial & Contract Support: Support processes related to financial monitoring, budget updates, and cost reporting. Assist in coordinating procurement and contract administration activities as needed.
  • Risk, Health & Safety Considerations: Contribute to the identification of portfolio risks and integration of appropriate safeguards, including health and safety.
  • People & Team: Act as a first-class colleague, positively contributing to the culture of internal and commission teams and contributing to internal team growth and our One Business culture. Promote a collaborative culture focused on high performance, innovation and continuous learning.

Qualifications

This is a Professional level role. To excel in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in portfolio and/or programme management, or portfolio/programme controls delivery within portfolios, programmes or complex projects, preferably in the Real Estate, Infrastructure or Capital Projects sectors.
  • Demonstrable ability to operate effectively within fast-paced, high-profile delivery environments, applying strong organisational skills, attention to detail and sound judgement to manage competing priorities.
  • Accreditation or working knowledge of portfolio or programme management methodologies, ideally within the Real Estate sector.
  • Command of portfolio or programme management frameworks (e.g., MSP, PMI) and disciplined governance practices.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining portfolio or programme management controls, including RAID management, action tracking, change control, dependency management, governance processes and assurance activities.
  • Advanced analytical and reporting capabilities, with experience interpreting portfolio or programme performance data, monitoring KPIs, producing client reporting and developing management dashboards that support informed decision-making.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and credibly to a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage, challenge and collaborate effectively across project teams, client organisations and senior leadership groups.
  • Experience supporting portfolio or programme financial management activities, including forecasting, budgeting, performance reporting and financial governance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and programme management tools, reporting systems and digital platforms, with a proactive approach to data, innovation and technology adoption.
  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field; professional membership (e.g. MSP) desirable.
