Purpose of the Role
To manage change projects that help the organisation achieve its strategic objectives, while ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, in control and in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Management of Change Projects: Ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Project Plan Development: Outlining the scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements for change projects.
- Stakeholder Communication: Ensuring senior management, project teams, and external partners are informed about project progress and that their needs and expectations are met.
- Project Team Management: Ensuring teams are properly resourced and have the necessary skills and expertise to deliver on project objectives.
- Budget Management: Ensuring projects are delivered within the agreed budget.
- Report Creation: Ensuring proposed solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
- Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk, assumptions, issues, and dependencies as necessary.
- Change Management Facilitation: Ensuring change projects are successfully implemented and embedded in the organisation.
Director Expectations
- Function Management: Providing significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contributing to and influencing policy and procedures for the function.
- Project Management: Planning, managing, and consulting on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide.
- Team Leadership: Managing the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers, and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business.
- Expert Advice: Providing expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function.
- Resource and Policy Management: Managing, coordinating, and enabling resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
- Compliance and Advocacy: Escalating breaches of policies/procedures appropriately, fostering and guiding compliance, ensuring regulations are observed, and monitoring and influencing on behalf of Barclays.
- Knowledge and Skills: Maintaining broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline, alongside up-to-date relevant sector/functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments/initiatives.
- Strategic Decisions: Using interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/sensitive situations.
- Stakeholder Influence: Negotiating with and influencing stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
- Communication: Acting as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/business divisions and mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
- Leadership Behaviours: Demonstrating a clear set of leadership behaviours to create an environment for colleagues to thrive and deliver to a consistently excellent standard. The four LEAD behaviours are: Listen and be authentic, Energise and inspire, Align across the enterprise, Develop others.

- Strategic Initiatives:
- JetBridge2: Delivering the quarterly functional releases to enable adherence to critical regulation and policy change, improve or remediate identified critical control items, deliver mandatory business demand, and deliver strategic simplification and platform stability agenda.
- CJE: Delivering a digital onboarding and maintenance experience that accelerates onboarding and account opening, reduces client effort, and builds trust.
- End-to-End Ownership: Managing the plans, RAIDs, resourcing, and budget. Working closely with Product and Technology to execute.
- Supporting Initiatives: Supporting with wider initiatives within CDDO, e.g. data dictionary working group, CDDO transformation business case. Supporting the transition to agile ways of working across the portfolio.
- CDD Ops: Covering onboarding, ongoing due diligence, and offboarding, across the UKC, ICB, IB, and Markets.
- Working Relationship: Working with Niall Munro, Head of CDD Operations as AE.
Key Skills Needed
- Experienced in portfolio management across waterfall and agile delivery.
- Technology delivery expertise.
- Deep knowledge of client lifecycle management across onboarding, ongoing due diligence, account opening and maintenance, and offboarding.
- Corporate and Investment banking expertise.
- Team leadership experience.
