The Role
Nominet has an ongoing stream of transformation change across its customer-facing products, supporting technology platforms and back-office operations. Nominet is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to manage a portfolio of change aligned to specific parts of the business.
This role will have three major focus areas:
- Shape roadmaps and future demand into a prioritised pipeline of work with well-understood capacity, funding, and outcomes to set delivery up for success
- Convert and deliver change via the appropriate delivery mechanisms, managing cadence and progress through the delivery lifecycle
- Manage a team of delivery resources appropriate to the size and scale of the portfolio across a range of initiative sizes and delivery vehicles
What You'll Be Doing
Portfolio Leadership & Delivery
- Develop and manage integrated roadmaps across multiple workstreams & operational teams
- Monitor portfolio performance using appropriate metrics
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of large-scale programmes, with likely a significant technology component
- Establish and maintain delivery governance, plans, milestones, risks, and dependencies.
- Ensure initiatives & overall portfolio are delivered in line with agreed scope, timelines, budget, and benefits.
- Ensure that deliverables (technical & business) meet the business needs
- Ensure that portfolio outcomes are aligned to strategy, business cases are valid and sufficient to track benefits realisation during and after initiative delivery
- Support annual planning & budgeting and ensure that portfolio is robust, healthy and set up for success now and into the future
Stakeholder Management
- Support Executives/Sponsors in articulating the objectives, benefits and outcomes of the initiatives within the portfolio and that the programme & change management are aligned to deliver and sustain the benefits realisation
- Support Executives/Sponsors in their roles and ensure that demand and delivery decision-making is effective
- Ensure that communications and reporting are in place to support business objectives across stakeholders, change and progress.
- Ensure agreed actions are completed, risk identified and mitigated, issues resolved and decisions agreed in a timely way
- Identify & track resource requirements and resolve availability conflicts

Planning & Governance
- Work with colleagues, stakeholders and functional teams to devise plans, identify inbound and outbound dependencies and determine the critical path
- Operate across both Demand and Delivery lifecycles to allow smooth transition from Demand to Delivery and that delivery is set up for success
People Management
- Ensure the team has the right people, with the right skills, in the right roles to ensure effective delivery of key priorities for the team
- Proactively enable and empower our teams to deliver at their best through timely coaching and feedback
- Role model a performance-driven culture and process, in line with required timelines and processes
Change Management
- Where programme outcomes require Stakeholders to adopt change, apply change management practices to support outcomes and sustain change post-delivery
Supplier & Partner management
- Act as point of escalation for appropriate suppliers or partners who are key to one or more initiatives' success
Best Practice
- Contribute to the delivery methods and community to foster best practice and a consistent approach to achieving stated outcomes from investments
About You
- People management skills, both informal coaching & mentoring, but also line management of 4-6 professionals
- Demonstrable experience in portfolio management across demand as well as delivery, specifically operating within a strategy, planning and delivery lifecycle and smooth transitions between each
- Demonstrable experience operating across both agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and waterfall (PRINCE2, PMP, MSP) delivery frameworks, with the ability to translate fluently between the two
- Substantial delivery experience, having delivered multiple programmes and projects across a range of industries and performed a range of roles through their career, giving exposure to all aspects of change delivery
- Significant experience of managing software development and/or complex projects
- Expert stakeholder management including external partners
- Proficient with portfolio and project management tooling (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Miro, MS Project)
