Portfolio & Operations Accountant – Investment Management

London – West end

£60,000–£65,000 + benefits

Permanent | Full-time office based

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a recently qualified accountant to join a boutique and growing investment management business based near Bond Street.

This is a broad, hands-on position offering considerably more variety and commercial exposure than a traditional financial accounting role. Working closely with the Head of Finance & Operations and wider investment team, you will gain exposure across portfolio accounting and operations, investment reporting, treasury, management company finance and commercial projects.

The opportunity would particularly suit an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant coming from practice who has experience working with investment management or financial services clients and is looking to make their first move into industry.

Candidates who have trained within a smaller or mid-sized accountancy practice and gained hands-on accounts preparation experience alongside audit would be particularly well suited.

The Role

You will take responsibility across a broad range of finance and portfolio activities, including:

  • Preparing management accounts and statutory financial statements for UK and Jersey entities
  • Supporting quarterly portfolio performance reporting
  • Reviewing and analysing investment and portfolio data
  • Performing investment and portfolio reconciliations
  • Supporting portfolio monitoring and asset allocation analysis
  • Treasury management, including liquidity oversight, cash reporting and foreign exchange
  • Bookkeeping, cash management, billing and accounts payable
  • Preparing VAT returns and supporting other company tax requirements
  • Assisting with budgets and financial planning
  • Preparing information for quarterly Board reporting
  • Working closely with portfolio administrators and other external service providers
  • Improving financial controls, procedures and reporting processes
  • Supporting systems implementation, automation and wider business improvement projects
  • Undertaking ad hoc analytical and commercial projects alongside the investment and finance teams

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified accountant looking to make their first move from practice into investment management and gain considerably broader exposure than would typically be available within a larger finance team.

You will join a small, high-calibre investment management business and work closely with senior members of the firm, gaining exposure to a diverse investment portfolio spanning public and private markets.

As the business continues to grow, there is significant scope for the successful candidate to develop their responsibilities and play an increasingly important role across both portfolio operations and finance.
