Portfolio Planning & Reporting Lead
We're supporting a major organisation undergoing significant transformation and are looking for an experienced Portfolio Planning & Reporting Lead to establish and enhance portfolio planning, performance management, resource forecasting, and reporting capabilities across a complex delivery environment.
Contract: Inside IR35
Duration: Until 31st March 2027
Location: Liverpool (2 days per week on-site)
Rate: Competitive Day Rate
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integrated portfolio plans aligned to strategic objectives.
- Establish robust planning, forecasting, resource management, and dependency management processes.
- Deliver high-quality performance reporting, dashboards, and management information for senior leadership teams.
- Provide portfolio insights, forecasting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Drive improvements in governance, assurance, and delivery oversight.
- Identify and manage portfolio risks, issues, dependencies, and resource constraints.
- Lead the automation and enhancement of reporting processes, reducing manual effort and improving data quality.
- Work collaboratively across PMO, Programme Delivery, Finance, and operational teams to improve organisational planning and performance.

Essential Experience
- Proven experience establishing or transforming Portfolio Planning, PMO, Resource Management, or Performance functions within a large, complex organisation.
- Strong background in portfolio governance, resource forecasting, capacity planning, and performance management.
- Experience designing and implementing portfolio-level reporting frameworks and executive dashboards.
- Track record of influencing senior stakeholders and providing decision-support information at leadership level.
- Experience leading business improvement or organisational change initiatives.
Technical Requirements
- Strong experience implementing and integrating Microsoft planning and reporting platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI, Azure DevOps (ADO), Microsoft Planner, and wider Microsoft 365 tooling.
- Experience developing automated reporting solutions, dashboards, and management information frameworks.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
