Position: WOODWIND REPAIR TECHNICIAN (Full Time)

Role Description
Dawkes Music is looking for an experienced Woodwind Repair Technician to join the UK’s largest Repair Team.
The workshop is where this business started. Dawkes has been repairing woodwind and brass since 1966, and sixty years on the benches are still the beating heart of the place — a constant flow of work from beginners' clarinets to professional saxophones, and a department that keeps growing to meet demand from customer repairs and stock preparation.
The work is varied and it moves. Alongside customer instruments, our technicians prepare new and pre-owned stock for sale, so a week might take in an overhaul, a run of pad replacements and setting up a vintage tenor for the showroom floor. Everything needed is on site: we hold an extensive stock of spare parts, pads and repair materials, and technicians draw on it freely.
Just as important is how the work is explained. This role involves talking repair solutions through directly with players - parents, schoolteachers, seasoned professionals - so clear, patient communication matters as much as clean bench work.

Main Activities & Skills
- Delivering consistently high-quality repair work across the full range of woodwind instruments, to schedule
- Explaining repair options to customers clearly, patiently and without jargon
- Preparing new and pre-owned stock for sale
- Working proactively with the Sales, Workshop and Logistics teams to keep instruments moving
What We're Looking For
- Proven woodwind repair experience, or a repair qualification with solid bench time behind it
- Confidence across flute, clarinet and saxophone; oboe and bassoon experience welcome but not essential
- The judgement to balance quality against turnaround on a busy schedule
- A genuine interest in helping players get the best from their instrument
Key Information
- Contract Type: Full Time, permanent
- Working Hours: 5 days from Monday–Saturday, 09.30–17.30, on a rota
- Site Location: Reform Road, Maidenhead, SL6 8BT
- Salary: Industry competitive and relevant to experience
