Job Title: Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead
Location: East London (community-based – visiting service users)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: Negotiable
Reports to: Registered Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead to drive meaningful change within our service. This role is focused on preventing incidents—not just managing them. You will lead the development and implementation of proactive, person-centred strategies to support individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs, ensuring they are safe, understood, and empowered to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Incident Prevention & Behaviour Support
- Complete Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs) for all individuals
- Develop and implement high-quality PBS plans with proactive strategies
- Achieve measurable reductions in incidents, working towards zero
- Reduce Restrictive Practices
- Eliminate unnecessary restrictive interventions
- Conduct post-incident reviews and root cause analysis
- Develop clear reduction and elimination plans
- Staff Training & Development
- Deliver PBS and de-escalation training to staff
- Ensure all staff are competent before working independently
- Promote a culture of proactive, person-centred care
- Person-Centred Planning
- Co-produce PBS plans with individuals, families, and MDTs
- Review and update plans following incidents
- Ensure staff fully understand and follow support plans
- Data & Quality Improvement
- Monitor incident and near-miss data
- Identify trends and implement preventative strategies
- Provide regular reports and insights to leadership

About You
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a PBS-focused role
- PBS qualification (e.g., BTEC Level 5 or equivalent)
- Experience conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments
- Knowledge of MCA 2005, DoLS, and safeguarding
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Commitment to person-centred, rights-based care

Desirable:
- BILD PBS Competence Framework accreditation
- Experience in CQC-regulated services
- Training delivery experience
- Knowledge of Makaton or AAC
- PMVA / MAPA / Studio3 training
- Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred)
