Post Doctoral Research Associate
A position exists for a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics to work on cosmological solutions and their dynamical properties under the initial value formulation of general relativity.
Duties
- Developing and conducting individual and collaborative research objectives, proposals, and projects.
- Planning and managing their own research and administration, with guidance if required.
- Assisting in the preparation of proposals and applications to external bodies.
- Communicating material of a technical nature.
- Building internal and external contacts.
- Assisting in the supervision of student projects.
- Developing student research skills.
- Providing instruction or planning/delivering seminars relating to the research area.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have (or expect to soon be awarded) a PhD degree in Mathematics with experience in the Cauchy problem in general relativity, in particular the rigorous analytical study of cosmological big bang singularities and relationship to asymptotic notions of initial data.
