The Institute of Finance & Technology (IFT) was established in 2019 as an interdisciplinary academic innovation centre. IFT is fast becoming a hub of excellence of knowledge on digital finance and alternative investment.

Our postgraduate degree programmes incorporate contemporary themes such as Machine Learning, IoT and Artificial Intelligence with research and industrial experiences that will help our students to develop both foundations in digital and sustainable finance and commercial competencies. IFT's academic and industrial staff are experts in their fields, providing critical advice to institutions across the public and private sector spectrum, at home and abroad.

About The Role

We seek Postgraduate Teaching Assistants to support teaching and learning activities for the upcoming academic year 2026-2027.

As a PGTA you will support teaching and learning in our modules, by working with the academic module leads through the delivery of small group teaching for students taking modules at the Institute of Finance and Technology (IFT) at UCL East campus- Marshgate.

This role is offered on a 15 guaranteed hours contract for the 2026-2027 academic year. UCL PhD students will have priority, but students from other universities may also apply, subject to agreement with their Supervisor.

PGTAs are employed at Grade 6 on the UCL non-clinical salary scale, on an hourly basis, in line with the UCL PGTA Code of Practice.

About You

In order to be eligible, you need to:

  • Be a registered Post Graduate Researcher (PGR) student at UCL or another UK university
  • Have the right to work in the United Kingdom
  • Have the approval of your primary PhD supervisor

All PGTAs must enroll and complete UCL’s dedicated PGTA training programme, ‘Arena One’. Further in-house induction and informal training will be provided.
