POST PRODUCTION MANAGER – WHISPER CYMRU

THE ROLE
We are looking for a Post Production Manager to join Whisper Cymru’s in-house post production team.
The role would suit someone technically minded who has proven experience managing a post production team and has meticulous attention to detail.
The person will be a client-facing, motivated team member to support Whisper Cymru’s Post department along with the wider production team based in Cardiff.
The role will involve assisting at every stage of post-production including being involved in the planning stages of all projects, managing and mentoring any edit assistants assigned to those projects, and providing technical support and assistance if needed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Manage and maintain edit, grade, and audio suites and the technical infrastructure behind them
- Own first- and second-line technical support for post production staff across all our in-house edit suites
- Monitor and maintain shared storage, SAN/NAS, MAM, and backup systems — keep media moving and protected
- Working alongside the Head of Technical Operations manage the network infrastructure supporting post: bandwidth, routing, security, uptime
- Diagnose and fix hardware, software, and workflow issues fast, with minimal disruption to production schedules
- Manage relationships with kit vendors, software suppliers, and maintenance contracts
- Plan and deliver system upgrades, licence renewals, and hardware refreshes without stopping production
- Build, maintain, and test disaster recovery and backup protocols
- Line-manage and develop a team of edit assistants
- Work with production and post teams to plan technical requirements for upcoming projects and live events
- Keep documentation and system configurations current and accessible

WHAT YOU NEED
- Proven experience managing technical operations in a post-production or broadcast facility
- Deep working knowledge of post-production systems, with particular focus on Adobe Premiere, the Adobe Creative Suite, and the infrastructure behind them
- Strong grasp of shared storage, MAM, networking, and IT systems in a media environment
- A track record of solving problems under time pressure, without drama
- Experience managing a team and external suppliers
- A clear communicator who can translate technical detail for non-technical people
- Comfortable working shifts, weekends, and live event schedules when the calendar demands it
Location: The base for this position will be Cardiff. There is no opportunity to work remotely.
Working Day: 5 days a week, all office-based. This role will require a degree of flexibility and weekend working. You will be expected to work with the team to plan a schedule based on production requirements. Lieu days will be given for any days worked over a five-day week.
