About The Team
The Fleet Team plays a vital role in supporting City of London Police services by managing and maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles that enables officers and staff to carry out their duties effectively. We are committed to delivering safe, reliable and efficient transport solutions, while ensuring vehicles remain compliant, operational and fit for purpose.
Alongside vehicle management, the team provides an essential internal transport and delivery service, ensuring the timely movement of mail, equipment, documents and other business-critical items across police locations. Working collaboratively, the Fleet Team helps keep people, vehicles and resources connected, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation.

As part of a collaborative and customer-focused team, the Post Room Driver provides essential transport and delivery services between various locations, helping to ensure the timely movement of mail, equipment and other business-critical items.
The role supports the smooth day-to-day operation of the organisation through a range of driving and logistical duties, while also assisting the wider Fleet Team with vehicle movements and other transport-related activities. Working closely with colleagues, the post holder plays an important role in maintaining an efficient and reliable service.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Collect and deliver mail, documents, equipment and other operational items between City of London Police buildings and partner locations as directed by the supervisor. This role includes manual handling activities, with appropriate training and equipment provided.
- Undertake a range of driving duties, including vehicle movements and supporting Garage Workshop operations across a variety of fleet vehicles.
- Assist the Fleet Department by attending vehicle breakdowns and supporting minor remedial actions where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing positively to team objectives and helping to deliver an efficient and reliable service.
Requirements
- Hold a full, clean driving licence and be able to successfully complete a Police driving assessment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, internal customers and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Flexible and reliable team player, capable of undertaking administrative tasks using Microsoft 365 applications, and adapting to changing priorities in a busy environment.
- Previous experience in a policing, public sector or similar operational environment would be advantageous.
This vacancy is open only to those who have the right to work in the UK. Also, due to this role requiring RV/CTC level vetting, you need to have continuously resided in the UK for the last 3 years. This residency needs to be in the immediate 3 years prior to this application. If you do not meet this requirement, you are not eligible to apply for the role, due to nature of the vetting checks needed.
