We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that’s energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently – we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it and mend it.
About your team:
At Centrica Energy, our mission is to move it.
We’re energy movers by nature. We’re a global renewable energy trading company which helps move energy from source to use – powering businesses, homes, and societies as they transition to a new sustainable energy future. If the idea of working to create a sustainable energy future also moves you, we may very well be the right place for you.
An opportunity to play your part
Centrica Energy is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help shape the next chapter of our Post Trade Data Platform, FinTRACE. FinTRACE is already transforming how Finance, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Treasury and Trade Finance teams access, trust and use data, and we are now taking it further: from a reporting and integration platform into a strategic, AI-enabled data intelligence capability that supports smarter decisions across the energy trading lifecycle.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who knows what great enterprise data platforms look like and has the hands-on experience to build, scale and run them. As Databricks adoption continues to grow across FinTRACE, we need someone who can bring strong engineering judgement, modern data platform thinking and a practical understanding of analytics, AI, governance and operational excellence within the energy trading world.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
