The Role
You'll join a post-transaction team of experienced practitioners who support trustees and sponsors through the transition of pension schemes to buy-out and wind-up. Working closely with the wider pension risk transfer team and other parts of the business, you'll help ensure a seamless end-to-end process from completing a buy-in transaction through to ultimate wind-up. Clients are a mix of existing relationships and schemes whose incumbent advisers have brought in the firm's independent de-risking expertise.
- Work on a variety of projects helping schemes navigate the move from a completed buy-in to buy-out and ultimate wind-up.
- Build relationships with clients, their advisers and insurers, actively project-managing the process to keep it on track, finding pragmatic solutions to issues and giving peace of mind that the necessary steps have been taken.
- Support clients in moving their schemes to wind-up within their desired timescales.
- Contribute to the wider team's strategy, attend networking events and conferences, and support new business tenders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
