Applications are invited for the above research post that is part of a large and exciting multi-disciplinary collaboration involving both academia and industry. The project will develop sustainable routes toward the synthesis and manufacture of novel biodegradable polymers. In turn, these new functional materials will be constructed from new monomers derived from renewable sources. These new and unique building blocks are also being developed with the larger project group.

The successful candidate will be researching into a novel class of polymers that are being developed and synthesised in the labs of Croda Ltd, and Nottingham, which show great promise in reducing the environmental footprints of Polymer Liquid Formulations (PLF). These materials are used in personal care products, so the polymers being developed in this project will significantly reduce the environmental polymer burden that results from personal care products, such as shampoos and soaps. The larger group also contains collaborators at the University of York, which is focusing on the development on new sustainable monomers. Collaborations across the whole team are very strongly encouraged and there will be the opportunity to present the research at both internal and external meetings.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
