Project Description
Current immune therapies used to treat cancer are only effective in about 40-60% of cases. One of the main reasons for this limited effectiveness is the 'immune evasion' of cancer cells due to epigenetic and chromatin deregulation of immune response genes.
The aim of the Laboratory is to understand the mechanisms of repression and activation of these genes in cancer cells and to use this knowledge to develop new future types of immunotherapies. Our main area of interest is the regulation of immune response loci, such as interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs). In our research, we use techniques of chromatin biochemistry, next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and expression analyses.
We are currently seeking a Postdoc Scientist to support the dynamic team in experimental work in the awarded grant OPUS29: Discovering regulators of interferon-induced transcriptional memory using targeted methods and epigenomic screening

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
