Postgraduate Research Administrator (Professional Doctorate in Clinical Science)

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Postgraduate Research Administrator (Professional Doctorate in Clinical Science). This role offers supports the delivery of the Postgraduate Research (PGR) Professional Doctorate in Clinical Science programme within the Doctoral Academy, ensuring the efficient, consistent and compliant administration of student processes. The programme forms the academic component of the Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) programme, delivered in partnership with the National School for Healthcare Science and commissioned by the National Health Service (NHS). Trainees undertake the programme on a 5-year part-time basis alongside their NHS roles.

Responsibilities

  • Administering programme and activity support for the faculty’s professional doctorate in Clinical Sciences programme.
  • Providing administrative support to students undertaking taught units as part of their programme, monitoring student engagement where required and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring data quality and data protection across systems.
  • Maintaining compliance with university governance arrangements, policies, and the regulatory obligations imposed by relevant external bodies.
  • Coordinating research project activity for PGRs, liaising with Programme Directors and supervisory teams (internal and external), monitoring progress, organising oral assessments and working with the Exams Team as required.

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of working in an administrative role, ideally within higher or further education or a comparable environment supporting students and programme-based activity.
  • An understanding of student or programme administration within a university or similarly complex organisation (e.g. NHS) would be advantageous, though not essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and respond flexibly to changing priorities.
