Post Room Operative
Permanent
Location: Abbingdon
Hours: Part time, 5 days a week, 09:00 - 16:00
Pay: £13.48 ph
Are you organised, customer-focused and able to thrive in a busy operational environment? We are looking for a Post Room Operative to join our team, playing a vital role in the efficient handling, tracking and distribution of mail and parcels across site.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team, takes pride in accuracy and organisation, and is committed to delivering excellent customer service. You will be responsible for the receipt, processing, dispatch and delivery of mail and courier shipments while maintaining clear audit trails and meeting strict deadlines.
About The Role
- Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail and parcels across site in a timely and accurate manner.
- Process all outgoing shipments, including packaging goods, arranging courier collections and Royal Mail dispatches.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper-based records for all deliveries and shipments, ensuring a clear audit trail.
- Track deliveries and provide shipment updates and tracking information to customers and stakeholders as required.
- Work closely with site tenants, customers and colleagues to ensure all shipping procedures are followed correctly.
- Support the Import/Export Officer with administrative and operational activities when required.
- Ensure all post room equipment, records and working areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and organisation.
- Adhere to all company, customer and health & safety procedures while providing a professional and efficient service.

What We Are Looking For
- Recent experience working within a customer-facing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good computer literacy and confidence using electronic record-keeping systems.
- Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service in a busy operational setting.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to changing priorities.
- Reliable and professional, with excellent punctuality, attendance and personal presentation standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team while treating all customers and visitors with respect and professionalism.
- Valid SIA Licence.
- First Aid Qualification.
The successful candidate will be a dependable and motivated individual who takes pride in delivering a high-quality service. You'll be comfortable handling multiple tasks, maintaining accurate records and working within strict processes to ensure every package, parcel and delivery reaches its destination efficiently and securely.
