Role Description
The Powder Coater is a full-time, on-site role based in Cottenham, responsible for preparing and coating metal components used in data centre infrastructure products. Day-to-day tasks include surface preparation such as cleaning, masking, and sanding, setting up and operating powder coating equipment, and applying coatings to achieve the required finish, thickness, and durability. The role involves monitoring curing oven settings, inspecting finished parts for quality, and reworking items where necessary to meet specification and safety standards. The Powder Coater will follow production schedules, maintain a clean and safe work area, complete basic equipment checks, and collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality coated components.

- Experience with powder coating processes, including surface preparation, application, and curing of coatings on metal components.
- Ability to operate and adjust powder coating equipment, spray guns, and curing ovens, with attention to safety procedures.
- Knowledge of basic quality control practices, including visual inspection, measurement of coating thickness, and defect identification.
- Strong practical and manual skills, including safe handling of materials, use of hand tools, and working to technical drawings or work instructions.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
- Ability to work on-site in Cottenham, perform tasks that may involve standing, lifting, and repetitive motions, and follow production schedules.
- Previous experience in metal finishing, fabrication, or industrial painting is advantageous.
- Good teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Basic numeracy and literacy; relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in manufacturing, engineering, or coatings is a plus.
