Introduction
Nigel Wright is delighted to be supporting a growing data and analytics consultancy in the appointment of an Analytics Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist business at a key stage of its growth journey, helping to deliver modern data and analytics solutions that enable organisations to make better, faster decisions through trusted insight.
The business has established a strong reputation for delivering data, analytics and reporting solutions to public sector clients and has recently evolved its service offering towards a fully managed subscription model. As a result, it is investing heavily in its Analytics Practice and seeking an individual who is passionate about data modelling, Power BI development and creating best-in-class analytics solutions for end users. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Staffordshire, offering a blend of client-focused delivery work and collaboration with an experienced data team.
The Role
This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in the delivery of analytics solutions that directly support customers in unlocking the value of their data. Working closely with both Analytics and Data Engineering teams, you will take ownership of building robust semantic models, developing engaging Power BI reports and dashboards, and ensuring solutions are scalable, performant and governed to a high standard.
The successful candidate will be involved throughout the full analytics lifecycle, from translating business requirements into meaningful reporting solutions through to testing, deployment, support and ongoing optimisation. This role would suit someone who takes pride in clean data models, enjoys solving business problems through analytics and thrives within a collaborative consulting environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
