Job Description
Anticipated Contract End Date/Length: December 19, 2026
Work Set-Up: Hybrid (3 days per week in office)
Clearance Required: BPSS
Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a Power BI Developer based in the Manchester/Liverpool area who can commute to the offices three days a week. The successful candidate will be a hands-on Power BI developer with significant production report-building experience, strong Power Query and DAX skills, excellent data visualisation and design sense, and a good understanding of Microsoft Fabric and how Power BI works with its components.
What you will do:
- Build high-quality Power BI reports from data preparation through polished visuals, with a focus on visual design and performance.
- Use Power Query (M) to shape and transform data.
- Develop clean, maintainable DAX code that follows best practices.
- Apply data visualisation best practices to produce reports that are clear, consistent, easy to use, and visually appealing.
- Apply best practices in data modelling, DAX, and report design.
- Use Microsoft Fabric components effectively with Power BI as data sources and within models.
- Document datasets, measures, reports, and delivered work with concise and usable documentation.
- Support, coach, and upskill analysts and developers on Power BI best practices.
- Build custom visuals where required to meet specific design needs.
- Promote effective Power BI development practices across teams.

Qualifications
- Demonstrate significant hands-on experience building Power BI reports in production environments, covering the full process from data preparation to polished visuals.
- Bring strong Power Query (M) experience for shaping and transforming data.
- Apply advanced DAX skills, producing clean, maintainable code that follows best practices.
- Possess strong data visualisation and design skills, with an ability to create clear, consistent, visually appealing, and user-friendly reports.
- Understand key Microsoft Fabric components and how they work with Power BI as data sources and within data models.
- Maintain concise, usable documentation covering datasets, measures, reports, and delivered solutions.
- Show the ability to support, coach, and upskill analysts and developers in effective Power BI use and best practices.
- Experience building custom visuals for specific design requirements would be advantageous.
- Be eligible for BPSS clearance.
- Be able to work PAYE through an umbrella company.
- Be able to commute to Manchester/Liverpool-area offices three days per week.
