Power BI Developer - Retail Transformation
3 Month Contract | Outside IR35 | £450-£500 per day | Hybrid - London
We're working with a well-established organisation undergoing a major Retail Transformation Programme and are looking to appoint an experienced Power BI Developer on an initial 3-month Outside IR35 contract, with extension potential.
This is a retail-focused position, supporting transformation across Retail, Omnichannel and Finance. We're particularly interested in Power BI Developers who have previously worked within large retail organisations and understand the complexities of delivering reporting across stores, digital/online channels, customer, commercial and finance functions.
Essential Retail Experience
To be considered, you should be able to demonstrate:
- Strong previous experience working within the Retail sector.
- Experience delivering Power BI solutions as part of a Retail Transformation Programme.
- Exposure to Retail, Omnichannel, eCommerce and/or Finance reporting environments.
- Experience working with large-scale retail datasets across areas such as sales, customer, product, stores, digital or commercial performance.
- Proven experience transitioning reporting solutions from transformation/project delivery into BAU.
- Strong stakeholder management across retail business functions and technology teams.

What You'll Be Doing
You'll design and deliver enterprise Power BI reporting solutions supporting key retail transformation workstreams, including:
- Building high-quality Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Translating complex retail requirements into scalable reporting solutions.
- Developing semantic models using dimensional and star-schema principles.
- Building complex DAX measures, KPIs and Power Query transformations.
- Working with retail and omnichannel stakeholders to define meaningful business metrics.
- Integrating Power BI with SQL Server, Azure, Databricks, APIs, SharePoint and other enterprise data sources.
- Optimising datasets, refresh processes and report performance.
- Implementing Row-Level Security and data governance best practices.
- Working alongside Data Engineers and Business Analysts to determine whether metrics should sit within Power BI or upstream ETL processes.
- Helping embed transformation reporting into a sustainable BAU retail reporting environment.

Technical Skills
Strong experience across:
- Power BI Desktop & Service
- DAX
- Power Query (M)
- SQL / T-SQL
- Data Modelling
- Star Schema
- ETL
- Data Warehousing
Experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform or CI/CD would be advantageous.
