Power BI Developer – Retail Transformation
3 Months + Contract | Outside IR35 | £450–£500 per day | Hybrid – London
We’re looking for an experienced Power BI Developer with a strong Retail background to join a major Retail Transformation Programme on an initial 3-month Outside IR35 contract, with strong potential for extension.
Previous experience working within a large Retail organisation is essential for this position. The role will support transformation across Retail, Omnichannel, eCommerce and Finance, delivering enterprise-level reporting and analytics across areas including sales, stores, customer, product, digital and commercial performance.
Essential Experience
- Strong commercial experience as a Power BI Developer
- Previous experience working within a large Retail organisation
- Experience supporting Retail Transformation or major change programmes
- Exposure to Retail, Omnichannel, eCommerce and/or Finance reporting
- Experience working with large and complex retail datasets
- Strong stakeholder management across business and technology teams
- Experience taking reporting solutions from project/transformation delivery into BAU

What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and developing enterprise Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
- Translating complex retail requirements into meaningful reports, KPIs and data models
- Developing complex DAX measures and Power Query transformations
- Building semantic models using dimensional and star-schema principles
- Working directly with Retail, Omnichannel, Finance and Commercial stakeholders
- Integrating Power BI with SQL Server, Azure, Databricks, APIs, SharePoint and enterprise data sources
- Optimising datasets, refresh processes and report performance
- Implementing Row-Level Security, governance and reporting best practices
- Working alongside Data Engineers and Business Analysts across the wider transformation programme
- Supporting the transition of transformation reporting into a sustainable BAU environment

Technical Skills
Power BI Desktop & Service | DAX | Power Query | SQL / T-SQL | Data Modelling | Star Schema | ETL | Data Warehousing
Experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform or CI/CD would be advantageous.

- Rate: £450–£500 per day
- IR35: Outside IR35
- Duration: Initial 3 months + extension potential
