Role Description
The Power Electronics Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Lichfield. The engineer will design, develop, and test power electronic circuits and systems for advanced lighting and technology products, including drivers, converters, and control modules. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as hardware, firmware, mechanical, and project management to integrate power systems into complete product platforms. The engineer will also:
- Troubleshoot field issues
- Support manufacturing
- Optimize designs for reliability and efficiency
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and processes
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in power electronics engineering, including design of converters, inverters, drivers, and related circuitry.
- Proficiency with schematic capture, PCB design tools, and circuit simulation software for power electronics applications.
- Experience with testing, measurement, and validation of power electronic systems, including use of oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and related lab equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards, EMI/EMC considerations, and regulatory requirements for power and lighting products.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in lighting, control systems, or related embedded hardware environments is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines in an on-site engineering environment.
