About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Power Intent / UPF Engineer to join our Solutions Engineering team. You will play a vital role in ensuring the power efficiency and performance of our compute solutions.
We like to think we are not just crafting sophisticated SoCs, but we are defining future chip design. Not only do we improve the power, performance and system integration of our products, but we also craft the design flows, influence Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and build the knowledge base that makes performant and efficient chip design possible.
Our work goes beyond multiple divisions where we drive improved implementation for Arm and our partners.
Accountabilities
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define and implement power intent specifications for System-on-Chip (SoC) designs.
- Produce, maintain, validate, and merge complex UPF (Unified Power Format) files to describe power domains, power states, retention strategies, and level shifters and isolation across different hierarchical domains.
- Investigate the tradeoffs involved with the Power Domain Network (PDN) and power distribution across the chip with respect to the power intent.
- Enable our partners to achieve the best possible quality of results.
What Skills, Experience, and Qualifications Do You Need?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Solid understanding of power intent concepts, including voltage islands, power domains, power states, and power control architectures.
- Proficiency in UPF 2.0/2.1/3.0/3.1 (Unified Power Format) and experience in low power formal verification.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven track record with power intent definition and verification.
- The ability to demonstrate that you can express new insights and communicate them effectively.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with formal verification tools (Conformal LP) for power intent verification.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Tcl, Perl, Python, YAML) for automating tasks like power intent rendering.
- Knowledge around Arm-based SoCs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
