AI Analyst – Power Operations

Location: London, UK
Team: AI Enablement – Power Operations / Commercial Operations
Focus: Power operations, scheduling, nominations, TSO/interconnector workflows, AI-enabled automation

Role Overview

Hartree Partners is seeking an AI Analyst to work directly with our Power Operations and Commercial teams to automate, streamline, and improve critical operational workflows across UK and European power markets.

This role is focused on power operations automation. The successful candidate should have strong working knowledge of power scheduling, nominations, renominations, TSO interactions, interconnector processes, market deadlines, balancing, and operational exception handling.

You will work closely with traders, operators, schedulers, asset managers, risk, and technology teams to translate operational processes into structured AI-enabled workflows. The goal is to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, accelerate decision-making, and create auditable workflows across power scheduling and delivery.

This is a hands-on, desk-adjacent role for someone who understands how power operations actually work and is eager to apply AI, data, and automation to real-world operational problems.

What You’ll Do

Power Operations Workflow Automation

Design and deliver AI-enabled workflows to support and automate:

  • Day-ahead and intraday scheduling
  • Nominations and renominations
  • TSO submissions, confirmations, and deadline tracking
  • Interconnector nomination and capacity workflows
  • Cross-border scheduling processes
  • Balancing and imbalance monitoring
  • Metered vs scheduled reconciliation
  • Operational exception management
  • Market notices, outage notices, and operational alerts
  • Handoffs between trading, operations, and settlement teams
  • Daily operational recaps and status reporting

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
