Job Role: Power Systems SME
Work Location: UK (Remote)
Mode of Hiring: Permanent

Job Description

Experienced Senior Power System Studies Engineer to perform and lead electrical network analysis, power system studies, renewable energy integration assessments, and electrical design engineering for utility, industrial, infrastructure, transportation, data center, and oil & gas projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform power system studies including:
    • Load Flow
    • Short Circuit
    • Arc Flash
    • Harmonic Analysis
    • Motor Starting
    • Transient/Dynamic Stability
    • Reliability (RAM) Studies
    • Reactive Power Compensation
    • Energy Loss Analysis
  • Develop and validate system models using DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, Homer Pro, and SKM.
  • Conduct grid integration studies for Solar PV, BESS, Wind, Hybrid Plants, and Microgrids.
  • Prepare study reports, design basis documents, technical specifications, and engineering calculations.
  • Perform equipment sizing for transformers, switchgear, cables, batteries, UPS, DGs, breakers, and capacitor banks.
  • Support grounding, earthing, lightning protection, and power quality assessments.
  • Review vendor documents, participate in FAT/SAT activities, and provide technical support during project execution.
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct technical training sessions.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in renewable energy systems, substations, data centers, traction power systems, and industrial power networks.

Experience

  • 10+ Years (Power System Studies, Electrical System Design, Grid Integration, Renewable Energy, Industrial & Infrastructure Projects)
  • Demonstrated understanding of global grid codes, utility regulatory policies, and industry standards (e.g., NERC, FERC, Ofgem, ENTSO-E, IEC, IEEE, and ENA standards), with experience supporting compliance, grid integration, power system studies, and utility modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in power system studies and electrical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, EN, and utility standards.
