Power System Network Model Engineer

Location: Wokingham
Contract: 6 months + extension
Clearance: SC Cleared or SC Eligible

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Power System Network Model Engineer to support the development and maintenance of electricity transmission network models within an Energy Management System (EMS) environment. You will work across network topology, electrical asset modelling, SCADA telemetry and transmission system applications, supporting accurate real-time representation of the network for control room and operational purposes.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in electricity transmission network modelling within an EMS.
  • Strong knowledge of modelling substations, busbars, circuit breakers, transformers, transmission lines and generators.
  • Understanding of network topology, connectivity and relationships between electrical assets.
  • Experience mapping SCADA telemetry and live monitoring data to network equipment.
  • Experience with GE PowerOn, GE XA/21, or a comparable transmission EMS platform.
  • Understanding of state estimation, power flow and contingency analysis.
  • Previous experience within transmission operators, electricity utilities or grid control centres.
  • SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC clearance.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of CIM standards, particularly IEC 61970 and IEC 61968.
  • Experience with SQL, XML and/or Python.
  • Experience with network model migration, commissioning and system upgrades.
