Company Description
Brightlink Power Testing Limited is a UK-based specialist engineering company based in Stafford, providing installation, testing, and commissioning services for high-voltage power systems. Our activities include the installation and commissioning of power transformers and reactors, vacuum and oil processing, HV/MV switchgear, protection and control systems, and complete substation commissioning. We work on major transmission and distribution projects across the UK at voltage levels up to 400 kV.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Power Transformer Installation Engineer / Site Supervisor to join our growing transformer installation team. This is a permanent, full-time position based in the UK and involves extensive travel to project sites throughout the United Kingdom.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and participating in the installation, erection, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of power transformers and associated equipment.
UK Skilled Worker visa sponsorship and relocation support are available for a suitable candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-site surveys and assist with planning installation activities, resources, tools, and equipment.
- Prepare and manage site documentation including RAMS, ITPs, daily reports, progress reports, and quality records.
- Review manufacturer drawings, installation manuals, method statements, and technical documentation.
- Supervise transformer offloading, positioning, and erection activities.
- Supervise and participate in the installation and erection of power transformers.
- Supervise and participate in transformer vacuum, oil filling, filtration, and oil processing activities.
- Carry out and/or support transformer pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Identify and resolve technical issues arising during installation and commissioning.
- Liaise directly with clients, OEM representatives, project managers, and commissioning teams.
- Ensure all activities comply with UK health & safety requirements, project specifications, and company procedures.
- Lead site teams and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standard.

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Proven site experience with power transformer installation and erection.
- Good practical knowledge of transformer assembly, vacuum treatment, oil filling/processing, and pre-commissioning.
- Ability to read and interpret transformer GA drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and OEM installation documentation.
- Experience supervising installation teams and subcontractors on site.
- Strong understanding of site HSE requirements and safe systems of work.
- Ability to prepare professional site reports and technical documentation.
- Good communication and client-facing skills.
- Minimum CEFR B2 level English.
- Willingness to relocate to the Stafford / United Kingdom.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work at project sites throughout the UK.
- Valid driving licence.

Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Working directly with international transformer OEMs
- Large power transformers at 132 kV, 275 kV, and 400 kV
- Transformer oil treatment and vacuum processing equipment
- OLTC installation, inspection, or testing
- Transformer diagnostic and electrical testing
