About the Role
We are partnering with a leading global investment bank to hire a PowerShell Subject Matter Expert / Developer to join its London-based engineering team.
This role is ideal for an experienced PowerShell specialist who views PowerShell as a development language rather than simply a scripting tool, and who enjoys designing robust, scalable automation solutions for complex enterprise environments.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade PowerShell solutions that support the reliability, security, and automation of a large global Windows estate. Working closely with SREs, platform engineers, and infrastructure teams, you will help modernise operational tooling, improve efficiency, and reduce manual effort across critical systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced PowerShell modules, frameworks, and tooling for enterprise-scale automation.
- Act as the PowerShell SME, establishing standards, best practices, and coding standards across the Windows platform.
- Build reusable automation solutions for Windows infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Integrate PowerShell solutions with Infrastructure as Code and automation platforms, including Ansible, Terraform, and AWX/Ansible Tower.
- Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and automation code.
- Automate administration, monitoring, and remediation across Windows Server environments.
- Develop PowerShell tooling to support Active Directory management across multiple global domains.
- Collaborate with global engineering and infrastructure teams to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of automation practices and engineering standards.

Essential Requirements
- Expert-level PowerShell experience, including advanced scripting, module development, functions, error handling, and testing.
- Strong Windows Server engineering experience within large, complex enterprise environments.
- Deep hands-on experience with Active Directory administration and automation.
- Proven experience building and implementing automation at scale using Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern automation/SRE practices.
- Experience working within regulated, high-availability environments.
- Experience within financial services or investment banking is advantageous, but not essential.
