Job Description

As a Powertrain Compliance & Test Engineer, you will join our Gaydon team to support our activities within the automotive engineering sector.

You will play a key role in analysing regulatory requirements and evaluating powertrain test data to ensure compliance with certification standards. Working within a development environment, you will support test interpretation, problem resolution, and contribute to delivering compliant and high-performing powertrain systems.

Location: Coventry

On Site: Hybrid

Clearance: Clearable

Experience Level: Mid to Senior (3-6 years)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and interpret technical and regulatory requirements related to powertrain systems
  • Review and assess physical test data to support certification and development activities
  • Support powertrain testing programmes and ensure alignment with compliance standards
  • Investigate issues and drive structured problem definition and resolution activities

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strong engineering and/or product legislation background
  • Experience analysing and interpreting technical requirements
  • Proven experience analysing physical test data
  • Experience as a Test or Development Engineer within powertrain environments
  • Knowledge of powertrain products, test facilities, and procedures
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Customer-focused approach

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
  • Experience working within powertrain testing, development, or compliance environments
  • Familiarity with engineering standards and certification processes

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience analysing regulatory requirements, particularly emissions-related
  • Understanding of powertrain homologation and compliance processes
  • Experience with powertrain test data and measurement challenges
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Concerto)
  • Knowledge of FMEA, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and drive change
