We are looking for a PPA Originator to join our successful PPA team. This role is home based with occasional travel to our offices required.
Role and Responsibilities
The role is core value-creation leaver within a growth strategy focused on delivering long-term recurring revenue and improving earnings quality and predictability. The Originator / PPA Markets role leads the origination, structuring and placement of short-term PPA hedges for Inspired's generation clients, and acts as the team's primary point of reference on PPA trading and placement matters. The the role also carries interim responsibility for the data, settlement and regulatory oversight functions of the PPA Markets team.
The role will work closes with the internal risk, optimisation, and account management teams to ensure PPAs are commercial robust, drive value, and align with client objectives.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Origination & Trading
- Support the structuring and placement of short-term PPA hedges for generation clients
- Support flexible trading activity and the development of new PPA products
- Support half-hourly matching, placement and settlement of short-term PPA volumes
- Data & Process Oversight
- Oversee generation data, metering and regulatory submission processes across the PPA portfolio
- Maintain oversight of monthly PPA statement validations and resolve escalated data or metering queries
- Support process and systems improvement, including the move away from spreadsheet-based workflows
- Account Management Support
- Support the structuring and placement of short-term PPA hedges for generation clients
- Support flexible trading activity and the development of new PPA products
- Act as the primary point of reference for the Account Management community at Inspired on PPA queries and the placement of short-term PPAs
- Provide guidance to Account Managers on hedge structuring, pricing and placement options
- Meet challenging financial KPI’s.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with renewable generators and developers, clients, and energy suppliers / firming and sleeving counterparties.
- Identify emerging market opportunities linked to net zero strategies, long-term price hedging, and renewable additionality.
- Lead commercial discussions with clients to understand energy demand profiles, risk appetite price objectives, and sustainability goals.
- Manage PPA tendering and competitive sourcing processes in line with internal frameworks.
- Coordinate with internal commercial services, and external counterparties.
- Progress opportunities through exclusivity to full PPA contract execution.
- Read and comply with the company Health & Safety Policy; taking reasonable care for the Health & Safety of themselves and others; co-operate with managers and other employees in fulfilling our objectives and statutory duties.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Essential
- Experience of commercial contracts (selling and management) including understanding legal structure.
- Track record influencing leading cross-functional delivery (Risk, AM, Analytics, Legal, Ops.
- Proven record of delivering challenging financial targets, highly commercial and opportunity driven.
- Knowledge of REGO’s and certification.
- Understanding of shaping and balancing risks.
- Confident, credible communicator, comfortable as a technical point of reference for internal teams and clients
- Strong Excel skills, including handling large datasets
- Able to prioritise effectively across origination and operational demands
- Decisive, calm under pressure, with excellent judgement on when to act vs escalate.
- Communicates complex topics in plain English for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Lateral thinker who can operate autonomously in a high-pressured environment and comfortable in an evolving and complex market.
Desirable:
- Proven experience in PPA origination.
- Good understanding of sleeving and firming options.
- Renewables development.
- Understanding of structured energy products.
- Degree in Finance/Economics/Engineering/Maths (or equivalent experience).
