Anderson Knight is delighted to be partnering with a well-respected and growing business in Glasgow to recruit a Part-Qualified Assistant Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable organisation that operates across a diverse client base and has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality services. The business continues to experience sustained growth and is looking to strengthen its finance team with an ambitious and motivated accounting professional.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to a varied workload while continuing to develop their technical accounting knowledge and progress towards a professional qualification. This role would suit an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment and is seeking a position that offers both professional development and long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports for a varied portfolio of clients
  • Support the preparation of year-end accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards
  • Prepare and review bank, balance sheet and control account reconciliations.
  • Assist with bookkeeping activities and maintain accurate financial records for clients
  • Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes
  • Prepare working papers and supporting documentation for accounts production
  • Liaise with clients to obtain financial information and resolve accounting queries
  • Provide support during audit assignments where required
  • Assist senior members of the team with financial analysis and client reporting
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards

The Ideal Candidate

  • Studying towards ACCA/CIMA Professional Qualification
  • Previous experience within a professional environment
  • Working knowledge of accounts preparation and financial reporting principles
  • Experience preparing reconciliations and supporting client accounting requirements
  • Good understanding of VAT
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cloud-based accounting software
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Proactive and professional approach with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Experience working with a varied client portfolio would be advantageous but is not essential
