Job Title: PR Account Manager

Location: Manchester (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 from home)
Job Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: Typically 3-4 years’ experience in PR, communications or a related role
Salary Band: £36,000–£42,000, plus twice-yearly bonus scheme

We’re looking for a PR Account Manager to join our growing Manchester team.
This is a role for someone who loves media, understands what makes a great story and is ready to take real ownership of clients and campaigns.

Media relations will be at the heart of the role. You’ll be expected to understand the news agenda, build strong journalist relationships, spot opportunities and help your teams deliver brilliant coverage. But we’re an integrated communications agency, so you’ll also work across social, content, digital and integrated campaigns, thinking about the best way to reach an audience rather than defaulting to one channel.

You’ll be joining at an exciting time for our Manchester team. We’re growing our client base in the region and want someone who can become a key part of that growth, both by helping our existing clients grow and by building Resonance’s presence within Manchester’s tech and business ecosystem.

What you’ll be doing

Client & Account Leadership

  • Lead the day-to-day running of a portfolio of B2B technology accounts
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and become someone they genuinely rely on for advice
  • Lead client calls, planning sessions, reporting and campaign delivery
  • Understand each client’s business, commercial priorities and communications objectives, not just their PR activity
  • Keep accounts running efficiently, making sure teams, budgets and deliverables stay on track
  • Spot opportunities to grow accounts and introduce clients to other areas of Resonance’s 360 communications offer
  • Support and develop junior team members, delegating effectively and helping them produce brilliant work

Media & PR

  • Develop strong media strategies and creative story angles for clients
  • Maintain excellent relationships with journalists across technology, business and national media
  • Lead proactive and reactive pitching, helping teams turn ideas into coverage
  • Stay close to the news agenda and identify opportunities before clients have to ask
  • Review and develop press releases, commentary, pitches, op-eds and other media materials
  • Coach junior team members on media relations and help raise the standard of pitching across accounts
  • Think beyond individual pieces of coverage to understand how media activity supports the wider client strategy

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Strategy, Social & Campaigns

  • Develop integrated campaign ideas across earned, social and other relevant channels
  • Work closely with our social, content, design and strategy teams to bring campaigns to life
  • Understand how social can amplify earned media and wider client messaging
  • Bring new formats, platforms and communications trends into client planning
  • Turn complex technology stories into ideas that people actually want to engage with
  • Use insight, data and audience understanding to make recommendations rather than simply following a brief

Commercial & Agency Growth

  • This isn’t just about managing the work already on your plate. We want our Account Managers thinking about where clients, and Resonance, can go next.
  • You’ll:
    • Identify upsell and growth opportunities within existing accounts
    • Understand account budgets, profitability and resourcing
    • Contribute to proposals, scopes of work and new business pitches
    • Help turn great client delivery into longer-term account growth
    • Get involved in the Manchester tech, marketing and business community, building relationships and helping grow Resonance’s presence in the region
    • Support our wider ambition to grow the Manchester team and client portfolio

What we’re looking for

  • You’ll probably have around 3-4 years’ experience in PR or communications, ideally within an agency environment, although we’re more interested in what you can do than an exact number of years.
  • You’ll have:
    • Strong media relations experience and a genuine interest in the news
    • A track record of securing quality coverage and building journalist relationships
    • Experience managing clients and leading day-to-day account activity
    • Excellent writing and editing skills
    • Confidence managing and developing junior team members
    • Strong organisational skills and the ability to keep multiple accounts moving
    • An understanding of budgets, account resourcing and commercial performance
    • An interest in technology, innovation and business
    • The confidence to challenge clients, ask good questions and make recommendations
    • An appetite to help grow both client accounts and the agency

What you’ll bring

At Resonance, our values shape how we show up for clients and each other. You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Stay curious: You’re genuinely interested in what’s happening in the world. You follow the news, understand the industries your clients operate in and are always looking for the next opportunity.
  • Use your judgement: You don’t need someone to tell you every next step. You can look at what’s happening, make a recommendation and explain why.
  • Take ownership: If it’s your account, you care about how it’s performing. You keep things moving, spot problems early and take responsibility for getting them sorted.
  • Communicate clearly: Whether you’re advising a client, editing a pitch or giving feedback to a junior team member, you’re clear, constructive and confident.
  • Develop others: You understand that being a great Account Manager isn’t about doing everything yourself. You delegate, coach and help the people around you get better.
  • Think commercially: You understand that great client work and agency growth go hand in hand. You’re interested in budgets, opportunities and how we can deliver more value for clients.
