Job Advert: PR and Communications Officer
Salary: £29,000 - £32,000
Contract: Permanent, Full Time (35 hours per week, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required)
Annual Leave: 40 days (inclusive of Public Holidays)
Pension: 7% employer and 3% employee contribution

About the Role:
Morgan Hunt is thrilled to partner with Beatson Cancer Charity to recruit a PR and Communications Officer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic communications team and play a key role in telling meaningful stories, building the charity's profile, and supporting its mission to ensure no one faces cancer alone. The team has been recognised with the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Communications Award 2025 and a nomination at the Scottish Podcast Awards for its successful Beatson Talks podcast.
As PR and Communications Officer, you will work across a variety of public relations and communications activities, balancing proactive media engagement with reactive press office responsibilities. From securing media coverage for fundraising campaigns to developing compelling patient stories and supporting the production of the charity's podcast, no two days will be the same.

You will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to raise awareness of the charity's impact, strengthen relationships with journalists and broadcasters, and deliver high-quality communications that engage supporters, partners, and the wider public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement integrated media plans to maximise media opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with media contacts to secure positive coverage.
- Manage media enquiries, prepare statements, and handle sensitive issues with care.
- Identify and share compelling stories that showcase the charity's impact.
- Support the production and promotion of the Beatson Talks podcast.
- Contribute to corporate publications, impact reporting, and supporter communications.
- Monitor and evaluate media coverage and PR activity.

About You:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced PR and communications professional with:
- A degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in a media environment (press office, PR agency, or journalism).
- Proven success in charity or consumer-facing campaigns.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in podcast production, media pitching, or multimedia storytelling.
- Knowledge of the charity, healthcare, or third sector environment.
