Job Description

THE ROLE

You will play a huge part in ensuring ASOS’s consumer-facing PR is best in class. With a totally refreshed approach, you’ll be a key player in defining how ASOS works with core media across content, campaigns and events. This role will combine strong operational delivery with ownership of defined PR workstreams, helping to raise awareness of ASOS across new touchpoints and elevate the brand across our channels and territories. You will work across multiple projects, with a focus on media relationship building, proactive press activity and brand briefs that drive growth through engaging content for fashion-loving 20-somethings.

You’ll support and independently manage relationships across a consumer media roster, servicing defined contacts and opportunities end to end. This includes proactive pitching, facilitating media requests and placement planning, gifting, hosting at press events, showroom management and delivering PR campaign activity. You will also contribute to the development and execution of creative activations, ensuring our media and talent audiences have a consistently strong experience of working with ASOS.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support senior team in executing the development and roll-out of ASOS’s newly reimagined global PR and talent strategy.
  • Relationship management – working with a broad remit of industry contacts, ranging across but not limited to, media contacts, stylists and internal stakeholders to always ensure our external content approach is in line with our target audience.
  • Support senior team with concepting and executing creative and impactful PR led event activations (including press trips) that inspire connections and engagement between our brand and our key press and talent contacts.
  • Facilitate all admin related to servicing media requests that are relevant for the ASOS consumer.
  • Support senior team on concepting fun and engaging PR activity, campaign execution and post campaign reporting.
  • Monitor daily press coverage across fashion, beauty and lifestyle media, flagging relevant stories and emerging opportunities, and compile a clear weekly coverage report highlighting key results, message pull-through and notable learnings.
  • Take ownership of defined PR campaigns and workstreams from briefing through to delivery, coordinating timelines, assets, product and stakeholders to ensure activity lands effectively.
  • Proactively identify and develop media opportunities, pitching relevant product, brand stories and cultural moments to fashion, beauty and lifestyle press.
  • Build and maintain trusted day-to-day relationships with a defined group of editors, journalists, stylists and content creators, becoming a reliable first point of contact for ASOS.
  • Draft and tailor press materials, pitches, briefing documents, event communications and key messages, ensuring all external communications are accurate, timely and media friendly.
  • Monitor the news agenda, competitor activity and emerging cultural trends, translating insights into timely reactive and proactive PR ideas for ASOS. Also sharing accordingly with stakeholders.
  • Own accurate coverage tracking for allocated activity, using data and qualitative insights to evaluate results, identify learnings and contribute to clear post-campaign reporting.
  • Represent the PR team in relevant cross-functional meetings, providing clear updates, managing actions and escalating risks or opportunities to senior team members when needed.
  • Admin management of the ASOS press showroom to facilitate relationship building, product loans and seeding, events, and content servicing from a designated in-house space.
  • Support communication and associated admin of ASOS new launches and product messaging, ensuring this is best in class, and proactively serviced to media across the fashion and beauty space to align to key business marketing initiatives.
  • Liaising with peer level and above across the business and externally to ensure proactive and effective delivery of department / function related processes and project briefs.
  • Support senior team with post campaign business reporting on PR and talent led activations that support wider marketing function.
  • Support senior team with budget related admin.
  • Be a constant champion for PR and talent in the business with one eye on what our competitors are doing.

Who We’d Like to Meet

  • An enthusiastic team player with a genuine obsession for all things content related, especially in the remit of digital and print media and social media spaces.
  • Existing knowledge and relationships and contacts within the fashion and beauty media landscape, VIP, and talent space.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience working directly with fashion and / or beauty media and influencers across a spectrum of project briefs related to organic brand placement.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling and editorially relevant pitches and press materials.
  • A proactive mindset and sound judgement, with the confidence to own defined projects, manage competing priorities and identify when to escalate.
  • Demonstrable experience of proactively pitching media and securing earned coverage or brand placement across fashion, beauty or lifestyle titles.
  • Comfortable using coverage, social and audience insights to evaluate performance and turn results into practical recommendations.
  • A good level of understanding of the media and social media landscapes. Particularly UK based fashion and beauty media, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
  • Fully immersed in youth culture and digital trends.
  • Harbouring a real interest in the development of the digital media and social media landscapes.
  • Excellent organisational skills, and the ability to keep all administrative tasks across the team remit organised.
  • Ability to act as an ambassador for the ASOS brand in all capacities.
  • An interest in fashion, trends and pop culture our 20-something audience love.
  • A genuine passion for the ASOS brand.
