PR & Communications Executive
Reports to: Head of PR, works closely with the marketing team
Role: Permanent
Salary: £28,000 - 36,000 salary band with the starting point determined by relevant skills and experience and progression through the band as capability develops
Hours: Monday – Friday (9:30 am–5:30 pm)
Location: London E2 6EH Hybrid working (minimum 2 days in the office per week)
Role Purpose
The PR & Communications Executive supports the delivery of D&AD's PR and communications activity, helping to build the organisation's profile, reputation and influence across the global creative industries.
Reporting to the Head of PR and working as part of the wider Marketing team, the role works across media relations, external communications, thought leadership and influencer activity, while supporting Marketing, Social and Content colleagues across key campaigns and initiatives.
This is a varied role for someone with existing PR or communications experience who is looking to develop their career within a global creative organisation.
Key Responsibilities
PR & Media Relations
- Support the delivery of PR campaigns around D&AD's key initiatives, including the D&AD Awards, Festival, Learn programmes, research, events and partnerships.
- Research and identify relevant journalists, publications, podcasts, broadcasters and other media opportunities across the UK and international markets.
- Build, update and maintain media lists and contact databases.
- Support the day-to-day running of the D&AD press office, responding to and coordinating media enquiries in collaboration with the Head of PR & Communications.
- Undertake media outreach and follow-ups, building relationships with relevant journalists and media contacts.
- Draft press releases, media pitches, briefing documents and other communications materials.
- Coordinate press assets including imagery, biographies, research and supporting information.
- Coordinate interviews, media attendance and accreditation around D&AD events and other key moments.
Media Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor and log D&AD's media coverage and relevant industry news.
- Identify and share significant coverage, emerging conversations and communications opportunities with relevant internal teams.
- Produce regular PR and communications reporting, including coverage, reach and sentiment.
- Research emerging industry conversations and media trends that could create opportunities for D&AD.

External Communications & Thought Leadership
- Support the delivery of D&AD's external communications and thought-leadership activity.
- Research topics, trends and industry conversations around D&AD's priority areas.
- Develop research and briefing materials for interviews, opinion pieces, speaking engagements and other external opportunities.
- Identify stories, insights and expertise from across D&AD's Awards, Learn, research and wider programmes that could generate external communications opportunities.
- Draft key messages, Q&As and other external communications materials.
- Maintain communications and forward-planning calendars and identify opportunities around relevant industry moments.
Influencer & Ambassador Communications
- Support D&AD's influencer activity, researching relevant creative and cultural voices and maintaining relationships and contact information.
- Coordinate influencer outreach, campaign activity, event invitations and follow-ups.
- Support PR and communications opportunities involving D&AD ambassadors, judges, trustees, speakers and alumni.
- Work with Social and Content colleagues to coordinate amplification around key campaigns, initiatives and events.
Marketing, Social & Content
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Marketing, Social and Content on the delivery of key campaigns and initiatives.
- Support campaign coordination, research, content sourcing and the gathering of assets.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of content across D&AD's channels where required.
- Provide additional support across the wider Marketing team during key campaign periods and major D&AD moments.
Team & Administration
- Maintain communications planning documents, databases, calendars and shared resources.
- Coordinate meetings, events and external communications activity where required.
- Manage communications-related administration including suppliers, invoices and purchase orders.
- Work collaboratively with teams across D&AD and develop a strong understanding of D&AD's programmes, audiences and the wider creative industries.

About You
- Previous professional experience in PR, communications or a related role, either in-house or agency-side.
- A good understanding of media relations, including media research, building targeted media lists, pitching and journalist engagement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting communications materials and excellent attention to detail.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Confident carrying out research and identifying relevant stories, trends and opportunities.
- Proactive, curious and comfortable taking ownership of tasks while knowing when to seek input or guidance.
- Confident in communicating and building relationships with colleagues and external contacts.
- A good understanding of digital and social media platforms.
- A strong interest in the creative industries and the issues shaping advertising, design and creativity.
