The Role:

Influence is looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking, proactive and diligent PR & Communications Manager to join our sailing client team. The candidate must have a passion for sailing and a desire to craft stories around its greatest events, series and athletes. You would be involved in all aspects of the account, from building communication strategies to drafting content and coordinating with global media. As well as supporting across social media and general marketing needs for various accounts, such as paid media management.

The role would involve travel to the world’s leading sailing events and has a great balance of working independently and within a supportive team. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of proven experience delivering PR & communication campaigns in the sporting world, or a keen passion and knowledge of sailing with a high-level of proficiency in copywriting and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of our sailing accounts – working closely with our clients to meet and anticipate their daily needs
  • Operate our global press office, including developing communication strategies and key messaging, as well as liaising with media globally
  • Maintain and grow key press relationships across sailing, wider sports, lifestyle and news, as well as content creators where applicable
  • Manage hospitality and media guest programmes at events around the world, ensuring that they are delivered to the highest standard
  • Conceptualise and draft high-quality written content, such as press releases and engaging stories, for distribution throughout the sailing season
  • Coordinate photography and video requirements around key events
  • Manage media sites and image portals
  • Develop and implement media activities, events and luxury press trips
  • Research and monitor key sporting, media and business stories
  • Liaise with and manage ambassadors, stakeholders and company staff
  • In-depth reporting and coverage analysis
  • Opportunity to grow within the agency, working across accounts and sports
  • Supporting the team and Account Directors and leading Account Executives to deliver above and beyond for our clients.

Requirements:

  • Passionate about sport and sailing in all its forms – SailGP, yachting, offshore races, America’s Cup
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment under pressure, with more than one client
  • Well organised and able to meet deadlines
  • Conscientious and proactive, with a good understanding of the evolving media landscape
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an aptitude and passion for writing
  • A meticulous attention to detail, editing and proofing
  • Able to operate well independently and in a team environment
  • Strong relationships with a range of media contacts
  • Valid driving license and passport
  • Fluent English speaker, with foreign languages a bonus
  • Given the nature of the role you may have to work beyond normal office hours and weekends
  • We are in the office 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday, with Friday work from home).
