What is the purpose of this job?

We're looking for a creative, proactive and organised PR Executive to support the delivery of consumer PR activity for Rail Delivery Group. Working closely with the Consumer PR Manager and wider PR and Marketing team, you'll help plan, deliver and evaluate PR campaigns and press office activity that support National Rail, Railcard and the rail industry's national marketing objectives.

You'll develop compelling PR content, build relationships with media contacts, support proactive and reactive PR activity, manage media enquiries, and monitor coverage, industry trends and potential reputational issues. You'll also track and report on campaign performance, using insights to help optimise activity and demonstrate results.

Working collaboratively with colleagues and agency partners, you'll help deliver integrated campaigns that increase the mental availability and consideration of rail travel, inspire more people to choose the train, enhance the reputation of the rail industry, and drive awareness, consideration and commercial results for Railcard and other marketing initiatives.

What can I expect to do in this job?

  • Support the Consumer PR Manager to develop and deliver the annual consumer PR plans for the rail industry's National Marketing activity, Railcard marketing and other marketing projects
  • Deliver always-on press office activity and support the planning and execution of upweighted PR campaigns, working closely with the PR Manager and wider PR and Marketing teams
  • Develop media relationships and cultivate new contacts within consumer media and pitch to journalists to achieve quality positive placements in print, broadcast and online media.
  • Research and write press releases, media pitches, inspirational content, customer communications, internal comms copy, briefing documents, Q&As and other campaign content.
  • Monitor the media landscape to identify relevant news, trends and opportunities, and track coverage to identify potential reputational issues
  • Capture and evaluate all press coverage, producing monthly reporting of PR activity performance against agreed KPIs for awareness, consideration and commercial targets
  • Support the management of media enquiries and interview requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
